Back-to-school season is filled with anticipation: new classrooms, new teachers, new routines and, of course, a backpack packed with fresh school supplies. But for many families, purchasing everything a student needs for the first day of school can place an added strain on an already tight household budget.
That’s why Brownson PLLC is proud to once again participate in Operation Backpack, an annual initiative supporting students in our community as they prepare for a new school year.
An Annual Tradition at Brownson PLLC
Giving back to our community has long been important to our team. Each year, Brownson PLLC joins our neighbors at Capella Tower in collecting backpacks and school supplies through Operation Backpack. Organized by Volunteers of America, Operation Backpack helps provide essential school supplies to students facing housing instability, poverty and other barriers to educational success.
For our team, participating year after year is about something simple but important: helping students walk into the classroom prepared to learn. A backpack filled with notebooks, pencils, folders and other everyday supplies may seem like a small thing, but having those essentials can help a student begin the year feeling prepared, included and confident.
Helping Students Start the School Year Ready
The cost of back-to-school shopping adds up quickly, particularly for families already balancing the rising costs of everyday necessities. Operation Backpack helps ease some of that burden by providing students with the supplies they need in the classroom. This year’s drive is collecting new backpacks along with items such as notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, folders, binders and other supplies for elementary, middle and high school students.
Brownson PLLC was happy to contribute filled backpacks again this year and to see the Capella Tower community come together around a cause that directly supports local students.
How to Support Operation Backpack
The 2026 Capella Tower Operation Backpack drive is accepting backpacks and school supplies July 20 through August 26. Those interested in participating can purchase a new backpack and school supplies and bring their donation to the Capella Tower Parking Office on Level B2 or the Management Office in Suite 250. Financial contributions to Operation Backpack are also accepted.
Every backpack, notebook and box of pencils contributes to the same goal: making sure more students have the tools they need to begin the school year ready to learn.

Our work at Brownson PLLC may take us into courtrooms and legal matters throughout Minnesota and across the country, but Minneapolis is home.
